Frequently asked questions
If your question isn't here, hit the Feedback button after signing in, or email support@dispatchprep.com.
What does All-Access include?
Every California POST module (Tests 1–11) and the complete CritiCall subtest battery used by 911 dispatch hiring agencies nationwide. Studio-produced audio scenarios across the audio-heavy modules, hundreds of multiple-choice questions with explanations, and per-module mastery tracking. Your progress syncs across devices.
Is DispatchPrep only for California applicants?
No. The POST modules are California POST-aligned and most useful to California applicants. The CritiCall battery is used by 911 dispatch hiring agencies in nearly every state — so the CritiCall coverage is directly useful nationwide. All-Access covers both at one $99 price.
Is there a free tier?
Yes — two ways. Without an account, every module gives you one full free attempt to try the format. After you sign up, POST modules T1–T6 are free with unlimited use. T7–T11 audio modules and all CritiCall modules require All-Access ($99 one-time, lifetime).
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — 30-day money-back guarantee. If DispatchPrep isn't right for you, email us within 30 days of purchase and we refund. We process honest requests quickly. We reserve the right to deny refunds where account activity shows the product was used substantially before the refund was requested — this clause exists to prevent obvious abuse, not to deny legitimate customers. Full refund policy.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Sign in, go to Account, click Manage subscription. That opens the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel, update payment method, or download invoices.
Do you have agency or bulk pricing?
Yes — see agency pricing. If you're a POST academy, agency, or applicant cohort, we can issue bulk codes at volume discounts. Email agencies@dispatchprep.com with your headcount.
How current is the content?
Scenarios are written against the current California POST Entry-Level Dispatcher Selection Test Battery and the CritiCall test specifications. We update as POST publishes changes.
Is this an official POST product?
No. DispatchPrep is an independent test preparation service produced by Public Safety Prep LLC. We are not endorsed by or affiliated with California POST, Biddle Consulting Group, Ergometrics, or any government agency. We prepare you for these tests; we don't administer them.
How many audio sessions are there?
60 multi-minute audio scenarios across the audio-heavy modules — 10 each across POST Tests 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and CritiCall Call Comprehension. Each scenario is unique (different addresses, suspects, callers, etc.) so practicing one doesn't spoil the others. CritiCall Memory Recall adds 10 short-form alphanumeric sessions. Spelling and Audio Discrimination add hundreds of short single-word and word-pair audio prompts.
What's the difference between POST and CritiCall?
POST (California Peace Officer Standards and Training) is the entry-level dispatcher selection test used by most California agencies. CritiCall is a separate computer-based dispatcher skills test used by some agencies — particularly larger metros and inter-agency consortiums. Some agencies use both. We cover both because applicants often don't know which they'll face until they apply.
Do I need a desktop?
Test 11 (Checking & Listening) is desktop-only — the real POST T11 is also desktop-only and we mirror that. The other audio modules work on mobile but are degraded; we recommend desktop for accurate practice. Non-audio modules work fine on any device.
Can I replay an audio session?
You can restart a session, but you cannot pause/seek/replay mid-session. This mirrors the real testing environment — POST audio tests are one-pass with no controls. Restarting fully resets the session.
How does scoring work?
Each session shows your score immediately. Your best score per module is what counts toward "Mastery" (≥70%). Your dashboard tracks every attempt, your best score, and flags modules where you're below 70% so you can focus practice.
Do you save my progress?
Yes. Every completed session is recorded with your score. Your dashboard reflects total sessions run, best score per module, and which sessions you've tried. Sign in on any device to pick up where you left off.
How do I delete my account?
Sign in → Account → Delete my account… at the bottom. You'll be asked to type your email to confirm. All session history, scores, and notes are deleted. If you have an active paid subscription, cancel it in the Stripe portal before deleting your account.
What browsers are supported?
Current Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. Older browsers may work but aren't tested. If something looks broken, hit the Feedback button with your browser name and version.
I'm not hearing audio — what's wrong?
Most common cause: your account isn't signed in. Audio requires authentication. If you see a red sign-in banner, sign in and reload. If you're signed in and still no audio, the Feedback button reports it directly to us; include the module name + roughly when you tried.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in page, switch to the Magic Link tab — enter your email, click the link in the email we send. Once signed in, you can set a new password in Account → Change password.
